LINGER began as an exploration of escapism, but evolved into a story about autonomy, identity, and the desire to be seen on one’s own terms. Through Amelia’s journey, the film reflects the emotional experience of feeling misunderstood, shaped by expectation, and searching for self-definition beyond it. The siren becomes an invitation into the unknown, at once alluring and dangerous, raising the question of who gets to define what a monster is. Set in a liminal swamp world, LINGER ultimately asks what it means to claim understanding and autonomy from within.
